This easy DIY body cream is perfect for your entire body and feels exactly like store-bought lotion. This is the best body butter recipe with beeswax you’ll ever try!

All the ingredients are natural (like my DIY non-greasy body butter), no mineral oil — no emulsifying wax. I have already made a second batch with my mom. One of the best things about this honey whipped body butter recipe is you make it right in the jar — no mess. And it is quick.

Homemade body butter with beeswax is easily one of my go-to products. In fact, DIY lotions were the first thing I began making when I started changing over my beauty products. They’re simple, smell great, and insanely moisturizing for your skin!

Beeswax is easy to melt, mixes well with other ingredients, and solidifies at room temperature. With a relatively low melting point, it does not require any special equipment and stores indefinitely.

Though the initial cost of buying natural wax may seem a bit steep – you never have to worry about it spoiling. It will be ready when you are ready to create something special.

Why Use Honey In Homemade Body Butter with Beeswax

The cold dry winter has been hard on my skin, so I went on a mission to find a new recipe for homemade body butter using raw honey as one of the ingredients.

I’ve learned over the years that raw honey is incredible for your skin. It has antibacterial properties and skin-saving antioxidants that nourish your skin and slows down the signs of aging.

Honey is one of nature’s most revered skin remedies. Thanks to its antibacterial and antiseptic abilities, it may benefit oily and acne-prone skin. Honey is also a natural humectant, so it helps keep the skin moist but not oily.

Honey has long been said to help improve the appearance of skin inflammation and scaring- making it a great addition to a DIY lotion!

How to Make Your Own Body Butter Recipe with Beeswax

The whole process of making your own body butter is fairly simple and straightforward. Combine together butter (like shea butter & cocoa butter), honey and good carrier oil. Using the double boiler melt the ingredients gently until all are liquid. You’re done! You may add essential oils if desired.

What you will love about this homemade body butter with beeswax is that the recipe is easily customizable. This DIY body cream with beeswax uses ingredients that are already shelf-stable.

As such, you can store yours for about six months. You won’t believe how easy this is to make! This is a homemade beeswax body butter with shea butter. I’m a HUGE fan of shea butter. I love slathering it on after a hot bath or shower. I have really dry skin, especially in the winter, and my skin just loves to soak up the shea butter.

But for this easy homemade whipped body butter, you will use also cocoa butter and jojoba oil. You will find this easy body cream recipe below!

If you are just starting your own journey towards a healthier lifestyle and want to ditch the chemicals, making your own body butter and body cream is a great first step.

By choosing the right ingredients and carrier oils, you can create body butter at home that absorbs quickly and moisturize your skin without a greasy feeling.

How Much Beeswax to Use in Your Recipe

A general rule of thumb when making body butter is to use one part beeswax to three to five parts oil. If you’re adding a substance that’s solid at room temperature, such as shea butter, it can affect your ratio, so a little experimentation might be in order.

Play around with your recipe and make a small batch at first.

If the final product is too firm or hard, use less wax or more soft oils. It may require making several small batches before you get the exact feel that you prefer.

Everyone is different and what one person thinks too hard – another may feel is just the right amount of firmness.

Does Beeswax Keep Body Butter From Melting?

Beeswax is a great ingredient to use in body butter since it dries as a solid. It’s considered a “hard butter,” not a soft butter, since it doesn’t melt until it reaches 144 °F (62 °C).

How to choose essential oils for your body lotion recipe

This easy whipped body butter with beeswax uses essential oils. While they aren’t necessary, adding them can turn your butter from being simply moisturizing to something that really addresses what is going on with your skin.

Dry or aging skin? Try rose and geranium.

Need to be energized and refreshed? Try lavender, lemon, and grapefruit.

Troubled skin like psoriasis or eczema? Try helichrysum, frankincense, lavender, sandalwood, chamomile, rose or jasmine.

Want to avoid Stretch Marks? Try helichrysum, lavender, patchouli, neroli, rose, and geranium

For essential oils, use whatever you like with the suggestions above being good for different issues. I used rose, orange, which was really heavenly smelling, especially combined with the fragrance of the coconut oil. Somehow I felt like a creamsicle :-).

I use also Lavander, which is very soothing, and geranium.

Don’t be scared if you miss some of the ingredients for this easy homemade whipped body butter recipe.

How Long Does It Last?

This homemade honey whipped body butter with beeswax technically contains no preservatives. However, in my experience so long as no water gets into the lotion (water causes mold), the homemade body butter will last a few months.

Truthfully, I’ve never had a DIY lotion recipe spoil. That said, much of it is about being careful about water.

I like to add a little vitamin E to my homemade skin care recipes. It helps keep the other oils from going rancid but this is optional. Because no water is used in the recipe, there is little chance of spoilage.
