Herbs as Healers

For every kind of pain, there is a herb…

My Endometriosis made me curious to find a natural way to help my body. And the last two years I have been spending some time diving into Herbalism.

I want to preface is that I am not a doctor and I am learning. But in learning, I’ve also had some great results, especially with regard to herbs for all the problems I have because of the Endometriosis.

In June, a friend of mine told me about a mix of herbs (Calendula, Tagetes erecta, Yarrow, and Clinopodium vulgare), that is used for the treatment of some gynecological problems.

So I decided to try…I have been drinking it three times a day for three months. Trust me, I love it for the benefits it brings with my ovaries and uterus.

These herbs are supporting the functions of the female reproductive problems including irregular menstruation, uterine fibroids, frigidity and ovarian cysts (polycystic ovarian syndrome), and Endometriosis.

They are really powerful and have shown their benefits for me by way of reduced endo pain and, PMS symptoms (such as mood) and skin (less hormonal acne around the jawline).

Herbs that saved my uterus and ovaries

Calendula – helps in clearing excess of kapha and pitta energies in the uterus, mainly because of its effectiveness on artavavahasrotas.

You can use also a Calendula oil – a gentle massage of the lower abdomen, back, and thighs with 10 drops of Calendula oil and 1 drop of Cinnamon oil, and 1 drop of Cassia oil can help in promoting blood circulation in the uterus, regularizing blocked or delayed menstruation, relieving dysmenorrhea or menstrual pain.

Calendula functions like a tonic to the uterine muscles, aiding in balancing the estrogen hormones that are responsible for PCOS and uterine fibroids. It is also trusted to treat cysts in the digestive passage and the breasts. Calendula infusions were used in folklore remedies for fostering uterine contractions and the discharge of the placenta during childbirth.

Tagetes erecta – this herb is used for its various medicinal properties both externally and internally. They say it is a herb for the soul. It is also called Marigold (it comes from Golden Marry).

It is recommended for uterine fibroids, bleeding, uterine inflammation, mastopathy, cysts.

In skin conditions such as eczema, rashes, pimples, acne, the wipe cleanses the skin and takes care of its beautiful appearance.

Yarrow or common yarrow – is known as a “styptic” – an astringent herb that stops bleeding.

Classed as a “bitter herb”, Yarrow is an excellent digestive stimulant that encourages proper bile secretion from the gallbladder, which in turn promotes digestion and can prevent gallstones from forming.

The benefits of Yarrow for women’s health in particular are many. It is particularly effective in either lessening heavy menstrual flow or in stimulating the uterus to bring on menstruation.

Yarrow aids in toning the muscles and increasing the muscular activity of the uterus, which serves to initiate menstrual flow. This is a wonderful herb for women with absent periods, also known as “Amenorrhea”.

If you are using this herb to stop heavy bleeding, it is important to address the cause of this whilst using Yarrow.

Additionally, its antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory actions make it especially useful in relieving menstrual cramps.

Clinopodium vulgare – anti-inflammatory and also clears the blood and genitourinary system. Has a healing and regenerating effect on the whole body, really helps with gynecological diseases, myoma, mastopathy…(mindful if you have high blood pressure, as it can make this worse and if you’re to get pregnant, this is not an ideal herb).

Hello, could you share the amount of individual herbs and water used in brew? Can this be drank daily (even during period)? Thanks! : )
