Are you tired of your skin acting up? Then it’s a perfect time to up your skincare game and finally achieve that stunning, youthful, even skin you’ve always dreamed of. Don’t know where to start? I might have something for you. Here are my 15 best tips for clear skin.

Today I’m not gonna talk about expensive skincare products. I’m just sharing what works for me. My skin is clearer than it’s ever been in my life. No, it’s not perfect, but for someone who has struggled with breakouts, acne, and oily skin their entire life, this is like a mini-miracle!

TIP #1 DRINK A LOT OF WATER

Rule number 1 – drink a LOT of water. Yes, drinking water can improve your skin health. You wouldn’t believe how much this has helped me.

Water is also a great way of losing weight because to lose weight, you need to drink water. Don’t get me wrong, water doesn’t flush out toxins and burns calories, your liver and kidneys actually do that.

I know that drinking a lot of water could be a hard job for many of us. The easiest way I have found to drink more water is by simply flavoring it with fruits and veggies. I love detox drinks. Not because I think they will magically change my body composition and get rid of toxins even if I eat junk food all day.

TIP #2 AVOID COFFEE & ALCOHOL

Maybe you are a coffee lover just like me. But don’t forget that coffee and also alcohol is very dehydrating and this shows on your skin.

So try to drink no more than two coffees per day and avoid alcohol.

TIP #3 DON’T USE SOAP

When we take a shower and use soap, we scrub down all the fats and dead skin cells. This makes it easier for the water to escape from the skin cells, thus reducing the moisture in the skin.

With a long hot shower + soap we also scrub the bacteria that live on our skin. Our skin has its own microbiome (bacteria) that keeps it healthy and beautiful.

TIP #4 CHANGE YOUR DIET

Most of us know that food plays a big part in our overall health, both physical and mental. However, as common as it is, most of us don’t really consider the effects of food on our skin. Unfortunately, food in all its forms can cause detrimental physiological and functional consequences to your looks that you really won’t like…

WHAT FOODS ARE GOOD FOR YOUR SKIN

If you’re not eating right, your skin is the first to show it. If you’re constantly breaking out, or you feel that your skincare routine isn’t working, try incorporating these foods into your diet to keep your skin clear.

It’s not only about your skincare routine, but it’s also about what to eat for clear skin.

What we put on our plates has an enormous effect on not only our energy level and mood but also our skin. While there are certain foods to avoid for clear skin (they can trigger inflammation, dehydrate us, or spike our blood sugar levels), others, I call them the best foods for healthy skin, can fight free-radical damage, boost collagen production, and alleviate acne.

TIP #5 EAT MORE ANTI-INFLAMMATORY FOODS

You need to stuff your plate with anti-inflammatory foods and avoid or keep pro-inflammatory foods to a minimum. Because there are so many foods that cause inflammation.

Sounds easy right?

However, it’s so much more than a diet for me. It’s a way of living, it’s my medicine, it’s how I heal my body and how I feel my best. The anti-inflammatory diet is helping me reverse my endometriosis symptoms like I already mentioned – leaky gut, IBS, acne, pain, and anxiety. On top of eating anti-inflammatory foods, I’ve also been eating MORE healthy, real food. The more nutrient-rich food we eat, the more nutrients our bodies absorb!

TIP #6 DON’T PUT TOXINS ON YOUR SKIN

Did you know that less than 20% of the chemicals in cosmetics are proven safe? I can tell you also that from 12 000 substances used in cosmetics only eight are forbidden.

Do you really believe when you see a label “natural” or “organic”?

For example, if you are on your way to buy a face cream and you are reading what is this made from…one herb (sounds good, it’s natural) but then you see – another 20 chemical substances…so, is this a natural cream???

Yes, of course it is!!!

But, why???

Why not! If it’s not forbidden, it is permitted!

TIP #7 STOP USING CLEANERS IN THE MORNING

If you’re still hanging on to conventional products, then chances are you aren’t going to achieve the skin of your dreams- thanks to the grocery list of toxins lurking in non-organic products.

How different would you feel to have a skincare routine that’s simple and uncluttered, that speaks about self-love and leaves you feeling totally refreshed?

Over the last year I stopped using cleaners in the morning – completely stopped!

TIP #8 CONVERT TO NATURAL PRODUCTS OT MAKE YOUR OWN ONES

I had converted to natural products, in an effort to reduce my toxin levels, optimize liver function, and reduce excess chemicals that mimic hormones and so blamed it on the changes in skin care. It’s a difficult process, I spent about one year or even more testing different products. You need to find what works for you. Now, finally, I found a routine that was costly but brought my skin back to normality.

TIP #9 TAKE SHORTER SHOWERS

There’s nothing better than a steamy shower on an early morning to wake you up. Unfortunately, hot water is counterproductive to skincare, it strips away the natural oils in your skin.

Hot water causes damage to the keratin cells which are located on our most outer layer of the skin — the epidermis. By disrupting these cells, it creates dry skin and prevents the cells from locking in moisture.

TIP #10 START USING COFFEE SCRUB

Why Coffee? The caffeine in coffee grounds has potent antioxidant properties that can help protect the skin from sun damage, reduce cellulite, and stimulate the blood vessels.

This homemade body scrub exfoliates the skin, helps reduce the appearance of cellulite, and moisturizes the skin with olive oil. Never mix with used coffee grounds from your coffee-maker — these have already been damaged. To gain the potential benefits of the caffeine, you also want to be sure you select traditional coffee, not decaf.

Coffee does an amazing job at exfoliation which makes it a natural choice for body scrubs, but outside of its ability to slough off dead skin cells what can coffee do?

Now we all know caffeine is coffee’s secret weapon when it comes to waking us up in the morning, but caffeine is also a secret weapon for your skin.

Caffeine helps tighten the skin, which can help reduce cellulite. Caffeine is also loaded with antioxidants, which help battle dark spots, fine lines, swelling, and inflammation.

TIP #11 FAT

Using body butter is a luxurious way to moisturize and soften your skin.

Coconut oil offers all sorts of skin benefits. Coconut Oil is rich in fatty acids, with lauric acid being the most prominent, and its complete profile can offer benefits for skin types that experience irritation, sensitivities, and breakouts.

The dry skin types that aren’t prone to clogged pores can benefit the most from coconut oil.

TIP #12 TAKE THE STAIRS, MOVE MORE OFTEN

Here is the deal. If you stay sit all day you will never get rid of cellulite. Your body needs to move not just to go to the supermarket. You need to do some actual move like walking in the park for at least one hour. And forget about the elevator, from now on take the stairs. It’s also good for your butt.

TIP #13 CHILL OUT

Stress is something that can affect your entire body. Stress is also not good for cellulite. If you don’t want to see cellulite, stop it! Stress hormones made by our adrenal glands and are also linked to the development and worsening of cellulite.

TIP #14 SLEEP – GET 7 TO 8 HOURS OF SLEEP EACH NIGHT

Sleep is important. Actually it’s SOOO! important for our physical and emotional well being.

Good sleep provides us with essential memory processing, repairs our bodies, regulates our body weight. Lack of sleep drastically affects our mood, creativity, brain function.

TIP #15 TRY YOGA

Yoga is something that I’ve just recently started getting into, and man, do I wish I would’ve tried it sooner. It’s really helped me to stretch out my abdomen, strengthen muscles, and reduce my pain levels. It’s the best kind of low-impact stretching for us gals with endo, in my opinion, and I’ve really been enjoying it.

I like to exercise according to where I am in my cycle. Whilst I practice yoga at any time, I up it during my pre-menstrual phase and menstrual phase as it’s gentler and helps alleviate some of the PMS symptoms I experience.

And that’s it! Following these simple rules will help you have the best skin ever!
