Creating the perfect productive morning routine was a huge challenge for me. I used to be one of those people who stays up until midnight watching movies, reading books, or going out with friends almost every night. The next day I’d wake up late and rush to leave on time. That worked perfect for me when I was in my 20s.

But life changed. I’m not that young and full with energy girl anymore. I’m a mom of a two years old girl, I work from home and manage my life with endometriosis. For the past few years my life has become messy and complicated.

One day I asked myself: “How these people are able to get so many stuff done in one day while working from home with little kids around”.

How?

I was missing something!

When my daugther was still baby, I tried to create and follow a 5AM morning routine for a while to see if it changes anything. Just as an experiment.

And guess what?

It worked. At the very beginning not so much, because I needed to get used to wake up so early. But in a week or so, I was ready to start my day till everyone’s still sleeping. I was so happy having 2-3 hours in the morning for myself. I was finally able to focus on my work and get stuff done.

I don’t wake up so early in the morning anymore cause I send my child to daycare.

But I have the perfect productive morning routine now, and I can’t wait to share it with you. These morning rituals changed my lufe for the better.

WHAT IS A GOOD MORNING ROUTINE?

I’m a morning person now.

I can’t believe I’m saying that.

I’m happy and positive.

If you want to become a successful person you need the best morning rituals and routines.

A good morning routine can really set the productivity tone for the rest of the day.

While a great morning routine can feel pretty magical, there’s more to the perfectly productive day than mystical forces at work.

In fact, there is a science that you can implement in your own life. Systems, schedules, plans, and routines are all great ways to eliminate unnecessary decision making and automate good habits. Like having a grocery list or deciding what to wear the evening before. And so on.

There are a few secrets to having a productive morning routine. Don’t we all love secrets, especially if they help us to be more productive?

THE BEST PRODUCTIVE MORNING ROUTINE TIPS

1. Wake up early (at your right time)

You don’t need to wake up at 5AM just because everyone is saying that. You need to find your right time. It’s never going to work for me to wake up before 6AM so I’ll stick to 6:30AM or 7AM!

2. Start a glass of green tea

After you’ve had a night sleep, your body is sort of dehydrated so start your day with a glass green tea. Warm green tea (I’ve never liked hot teas) is the best to wake up your body and digestion in the mornings. It’s healthy and detoxifies your body and it’s really refreshing after the night sleep.

3. Start with exercises or slow yoga

If you follow my blog series you’ve probably noticed that I have endometriosis and because of it I can’t train hard or go to the gym. So, what I do is just slow yoga every morning.

Personally, I love yoga challenges. Actually, that’s what I’m doing right now. Tim Senesi is a great yoga teacher and you can find his videos on youtube, for free.

4. Stop for a second and detoxify your thoughts

Now, after I finish with my yoga routine I really stop for a second and try to detoxify my thoughts.

Being unhappy is a good thing because unhappiness means you are noticing the poison in your body.

You need to fix that. So think about something nice…like sex.

Do you feel the difference?

All kind of thoughts affect your physical body. If you want to make any changes in your world, you must change your thoughts.

If you have negative thoughts, you poison yourself.

The easiest way to detoxify your thoughts is by making a list of good feelings and thoughts. I’m talking about simple things that make you happy. Now find ways to experience them every day.

Every happy moment you have will detoxify you a little bit.

5. Enjoy your breakfast

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Usually I have my breakfast around 11-12. That helps me a lot to control the calories I consume daily and skip lunch (instead, I eat a huge fruit salad with coconut yogurt and nuts).

Let’s get back to the breakfast.

First of all, eat healthily. Big, healthy, and nourishing breakfast is the best you can do for your body.

Second, enjoy your breakfast.

I love making smoothies with fruits, berries, nut butter, protein powder, flax seed, perfect for health and wellness!

Don’t forget your list with good thoughts while eating and enjoying your breakfast.

6. Drink A LOT of water

Almost to forgot. If you want to be productive and get stuff done you have to drink A LOT of water.

When I say a lot I really mean it. Because water is that magical drink that keeps your body energized, full with the right nutrients and gives you power.

Sometimes too much water could be sad and boring, but if you put some lemons and ginger (why not also honey and fresh mint leaves) in that will change everything. I call it my happy water!

But it’s also detox water and if you drink it for a couple of weeks you will notice some really cool changes with your body like flat belly and clear skin. That’s cool!

Fresh citrus water is the best to keep your body energized during the day.

7. Make a list

Now, I know everyone tackles tasks differently but this is what works for me and so I’m going to share it.

I start every morning with a list of tasks I want to accomplish – so I know exactly what I want to get done that day. The reason this little running list works for me is it helps to keep my productivity level up all day long.

Let me give you an example, do you ever find yourself sitting down and wondering if you actually have free time or if you’re just forgetting things you were supposed to do? Or, do you find yourself with a little free time – such as when your child takes their nap or 15 minutes while dinner is cooking?

The list solves this. I go straight to my list and see was things I wanted to get done that day and I can jump immediately into a task without wasting too much time thinking about it.

8. Clean your workspace

No matter if you work from home or no, you need a clean workspace.

I’m a messy person and I’m happy with that. But when it comes to my workplace I like it well organized and clean.

No food (maybe just my favorite water bottle), cables in the right place and so on.

This is really helping me to have a more productive morning routine because starting the day with cleaning is not my ideal morning routine.

9. Don’t multitask

Maybe you thrive if you multitask, and I do sometimes to. But combining different tasks is a bad idea. One task is more than enough if you really want a productive morning routine.

I do all my emails first. Then I write a blog post. I take a small break and start something else. Like making new pins or looking for keywords for a new post.

10. Go out and spend some time in nature

Spending time in nature makes us happy. You don’t need to go for a 3-hours trip in the mountain. Just go out with your dog, your kid or by yourself and enjoy the fresh air.

Being in nature is good for your brain and your body. Nature has the power to heal.

11. Get enough sleep

Getting around 6-8 hours of sleep is the ideal time for your body to recover from the day before and to help you feel energized the next day. Obviously everyone is different in this.

Don’t work late in the evening. Don’t spend too much time with your phone in bed. Instead read a book or think about something that makes you happy.

Those are my 11 secrets to having a productive morning routine and get your day started on the right foot.

I know, that being a morning person is not so easy at all, but in time you will see the impact of it and how addicting it is to be healthy, happy, and successful!

You may not always have a productive morning routine, I don’t either. We sometimes need a chill day to be productive the next day.

Just do what feels right. If you want to sleep in instead and have a slower morning: that is absolutely fine!
